Hatshepsut Temple

Located on the west bank of the Nile at Luxor, the ancient city of Thebes, Hatshepsut Temple is one of the most dramatic in the world.  Placed against an imposing stone cliff, the location looks like it came right of a movie set played out 3,000 years ago.  Sand eventually consumed the temple and it disappeared for generations until it was excavated and brought partially back to its former glory.  Now a major tourist destination, this temple built for the Egyptian Queen Hapshepsut, who also erected one of the massive obelisks at Karnak, enjoys visitors all year.
