Karnak Temple
Arguably the greatest ancient temple still standing in the world, Karnak
Temple is a sight to behold. Located in the middle of Luxor, modern
day Thebes, Karnak dominates the area with massive pylons, walls and
columns of stone erected over a period of 1,000 years during the New
Kingdom of ancient Egypt. Nearly one mile long, you can spend
an entire day at this temple and still not see every column, corner
and nuance. The Great Hypostyle Court is unmatched in the world
and which even photographs cannot convey the splendor of the
location – this is one which must be visited to be experienced.
