An amazing amount of shade exists in the Ramesseum, protecting visitors from the otherwise blistering Egyptian sun on the west side of the Nile from Luxor, just a few miles away from the Colossi of Memnon and the ruined temple of Amenhotep III, both built too close to the Nile floodplain but the Ramesseum being just far enough away not to be completely undermined
