Erg Chebbi

The most famous Saharan dune field in Morocco is Erg Chebbi. Located seven hours drive east of Marrakech near the closed Algerian border, Erg Chebbi is truly in the middle of nowhere. Leaving the main road leaves the untrained driver with a bewildering array of tracks to follow, guaranteeing the uninitiated getting lost. A reliable car, the ability to communicate with locals and knowing what you are doing is critical out here if you venture out on your own. The Sahara is unforgiving of inexperience.
