Guilin
Possessing one of the most beautiful landscapes in China, Guilin sits
on
the banks of the Li River in south China some 300 miles north of
Vietnam.
Even though the boat trip down the Li River to Yangshuo is the
highlight of
a visit to this small Chinese city of 600,000 people, there are many
other
sights not to be missed. Reed flute cave and Seven Star Park with its
accompanying caves easily surpasses Carlsbad Caverns in the United
States
in visual impact and aided by the theatrical lighting.
Guilin transforms at night to host a large street bazaar, and this
transformation happen so frequent that the street is lined with
electrical
outlets for vendors to use. Finding food as a tourist is more
challenging
as far less people speak English. And missing the tour bus from
Yangshuo
back to Guilin is most definitely an adventure as the local transport
stops
to pick up and drop of scores of people frequently; very similar to the
"Romancing the Stone" experience.
