Krakow
Krakow was the old capital of Poland and seems to be the constant cultural capital of the country. It has survived Tarter invasions, enjoyed its golden age under King Kazimierz the Great, suffered under the heavy hand of communist Moscow and is now enjoying a renaisance. The home of Karol Wojtyla, better known as Pope John Paul II, was born in nearby Wadowice and served as archbishop in Krakow. You will find a classic European feel here, with cobble stone streets and even a real fire breathing dragon!
