D70 flicker sample

If you download the two above images (right click and Save As...) and upload them to
your D70 or D100 (respectively) and view them slightly
zoomed in, you will discover that the LCD will flicker around
the door handle, on the roof rack of the Explorer outside and
on the boxes to the left of the door.
Also, if you put the D100 into the PALs video out mode
rather than the NTSC mode, you will discover that the flicker
is markedly worse. The D100 image was taken from an
in-store sample. I have two other available .TIF D100
images for examination available.
Since no one at North County Camera
where I purchased my D70 from ever noticed this and there
were few respondents to my post on Photo.net, I don't believe
this to be an actual defect. But, I don't want to be two
weeks in the field and have my digicam konk
out on me, either. The flickering areas appear to be slightly off horizontal
lines. No, this is not from the zebra overexposure indicator, either. Make
sure to turn that off to see this effect.
Sorry about the .TIF image for the D100. I didn't
realize I was in .TIF mode at the time and had to take what I
could get.
