Kangerlussuaq
Kangerlussuaq is the main airport on Greenland. This airport was originally designated as Sondre Stromfjord in Danish and established during World War II as a middle point between the United States in Europe. This location was chosen for its best weather relative to other coastal locations on the island one third the size of Australia. This settlement is the main jump point for access all over the island from Copenhagen, Denmark. There isn’t much to do other than start or end an expedition, take a ride to the icecap and avoid the quicksand or take a chance trip to find musk ox. There is not even an ATM here, so having Danish Krones in the pocket is a must prior to arrival.
