Alabama

Alabama is a lush green state, home to industrial, educational and technological centers.  At one time, the state existed almost exclusively on cotton revenue until a boll weevil infestation decimated the state's crops, forcing farmers to diversify their crops.  There is even a statue dedicated to the boll weevil in Enterprise, Alabama.  Alabama was ground zero for the civil rights clashes of the mid-20th century and before that was home to horrible battles during the Civil War.  Since those troublesome times, Alabama has risen out of the ashes and become a technological powerhouse, and becoming a key player in the development of the Apollo space program that put the first human on the moon.
