Towns in Alaska
Most population centers in Alaska are towns, as the largest city, Anchorage, only has
260,000 residents, 1/4 of Alaska's total population. For a state that is 2.3 times the
size of Texas, that's a lot of empty space. Alaskan towns are the jumping off point for
many expeditions. Talkeetna is the starting place for many when they make an attempt
at Mt. McKinley, for example. You will meet some of the most interesting Americans
in Alaska, the biggest small town.
