Monument Valley
The place of American Movie Westerns, Monument Valley stretches over vast expanses of land, coated with
strange looking sandstone formations. Much of the land is held and cared for by Native American tribes
who have been living in this land in one fashion or another for perhaps 1,000 years, depending on who you
ask. The reason Monument Valley exists as it does is due to a thin hard layer of sandstone atop the
formations, somewhat protecting the underlying rock from erosion. However, one day in the distant
future, there will only be sand where these great rock monoliths once stood.
