Anza Borrego Desert
A hidden gem of southern California is the Anza Borrego Desert. Part of the Sonora
Desert, the largest state park in the lower 48 states contains ancient coral reefs, slot canyons,
hundreds of miles of unpaved roads and the largest curved wooden trestle train bridge
in the US. Dependent on the winter rains, the spring brings a few short weeks of
a beautiful desert bloom covering the entire 937 square miles of the park. Containing
a vast spectrum of flora and wildlife including palm oasis and the endangered bighorn sheep,
Anza Borrego State Park has enough to keep the outdoorsman, off-roader and naturalist
occupied for a lifetime.
