Cibola National Wildlife Refuge
Nestled in between California and Arizona on the Colorado River, the
Cibola Wildlife Refuge is a haven for migratory and native
birds. Far from any city, Cibola NWR requires a little work to
get to but is well worth the effort. Visitors are rewarded with
the thunderous rising of thousands of Canada and Snow geese at once,
creating a cacophony unlike anything you have ever heard. Near
here, there are also old mine shafts where bats swarm out just after
sunset, similar to Carlsbad Caverns in New Mexico.
