Lassen National Park
Sitting on the Pacific ring of fire, Mt. Lassen last erupted 7 miles into the stratosphere
in 1915 and dramatically altered the landscape. Shortly after in 1916, the area was
declared a national park due to its signficance as an active volcanic landscape.
This is California's version of Yellowstone, sporting mud pots, sulphurous odors, boiling
mud and walkways to keep you safely off of the ground. Mt. Lassen dominates the landscape
and as a short 2.5 hour walk, it's possible for most to make it to the top of a 10,457' peak.
