New Orleans
Home of the largest Mardis Gras celebration (the original is in
Mobile, Alabama) in the United States, New Orleans was a very
festive city, drawing revelers from all around the country. After
the devastating 2005 hurricane season, New Orleans was reduced to a
shell of a city. The French Quarter is still alive and thriving
but many parts of the city are still vacated. Areas like the
Bardmoor district are alive, though many neighborhoods still bear
the scars of flood damage. The city is still fun and well
worth visiting, as tourist dollars will help the people get back
on their feet.
