Biloxi
Once a popular town for vacationers in the south, Biloxi has been reduced to a
shell of its former self after hurricane Katrina tore through the Gulf Coast in
2005. The people of Mississippi have been in a long and arduous
rebuilding process. There was vast devastation of all homes within
a quarter mile of the beach and significant damage even further back. Three
casinos have been rebuilt and are operating, providing much needed jobs and
revenue for the area. Throughout this massive reconstruction effort,
the people of Biloxi continue to share stories with their visitors and are
incredibly hospitable. So visit, as it helps their local economy and
rebuilding effort. These images were taken January 6, 2007, a year and several
months after hurricane Katrina.
