Arches National Park
Existing in the higher elevations where soft sandstone has been
exposed to the blowing wind and the downpour of rain, Arches National
Park exhibits some of the strangest rock formations you will see
anywhere in the world. There are plenty of sandstone arches created
by running water but few are in the scale present in corner of Utah.
Perhaps the Wind Caves in the
Anza Borrego California State Park will one day have similar form, but the
scale will never be as grand. The arches come in all sizes: there
some which are small, like the
Sand Dune Arch, while others are massive, like Landscape Arch.
